Copper stills shine with undeniable beauty. As well, copper for stilling essential oil serves to naturally neutralize the pure scent of the oil terpenes, while glass stills require the oil be left open for a week or so (due to a sulphuric character in the glass-stilled oil). Weighing the benefits of copper over glass, I think copper wins (sure, it’s a bit costly, but a great choice).
There is definitely a stillness required in stilling essential oil. The rich essence of scent in the plant matter fills the air. Wait. Finally the first drops of oil-spotted hydrosol satisfyingly drip down like water in a parched desert.
Did you know? Hydrosol is a fantastic natural cleaning product for countertops, a sweet spray for the room, or for linens, completely natural! Use it straight in your bathwater, as a spray toner for a sweating face, on minor burns or abrasions. It’s the base in Lavender and Rose Concessions’ Soothing Lavender Lotion, a uniquely fresh and earthy scent.
Though just a few drops, and the process takes hours and bushels of buds, it’s still a rich yield. You have to remember that there’s joy in the journey.
The idea of pulling essential oil turns thoughts toward God. The God who created such amazing garden yield is in essence complete purity and wondrous perfection. He is so complete in and of Himself that we find Him incomprehensible, yet He is infinitely and immanently present in every nook, cranny, trial and shadow in which we cower. He is the unchanging and timeless Rock we yearn for, the transcendent stability that deepens and gives meaning to every emotion. Yield to Him for true stillness, true peace.
Daniel 11:32 [ESV] The people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.
